Eats & Treats: Homemade Chicken & Waffles
Are y’all as excited as I am that today is Friday? A belle will probably still be doing her happy dance by the time you read this post. All week the sis and I have been collecting packages from UPS/USPS and sorting through all of our Christmas gifts (it’s better to give to yourself especially with the deals this year!).
In case you don’t know, we are rarely seen in the mall this time of year. We live less than 5 miles from the largest mall in Birmingham, so you can imagine how the traffic gets during this month. Guess what? We bought a new Belgian waffle maker and it is a doll! It inspired the meal we had the other night.
Last weekend we went to The Shops at Grand River (outlet mall in Leeds, AL) and did a little shopping for the kitchen. You already know that we love to cook/bake, but we couldn’t pass up a great sale. We have a kitchen full of gadgets, but you can never have too many.
At Black & Decker we found the cutest waffle maker. For under $20 this gadget is a dream. It’s sterling silver, non stick and very simple to use. And we got it for 30% off!! Now y’all know whey we love outlet shopping.
To welcome our new waffle iron into our home, Shermika made fresh homemade waffles with a touch of cinnamon. I am a waffle lover and I must say my sis’s are divine. I don’t think y’all understand how special this occasion was. We bought canola oil, pulled out one of our large pans and I deep fried the chicken (happens maybe once a year in our home). After 30 minutes we both were in sweet savory heaven.
Have you tried this famous combo? Do you like waffles? There’s nothing better than the sweet and salty combo in my book! Check out the cooking madness below.

I am a southern cook and can't tell you how long to cook... you will know when it's done because it will be golden brown & float!

This time of year I love being in the malls. It is so much fun. . . at least to me. Catching sales, trying on clothes, looking at all the decorations.
The food looks good. I haven't had fried chicken in I don't know how many years. I don't eat waffles often so a waffle maker would be a waste but, I love smoothies so, I am on the hunt for a new blender. Oh and a crockpot
Girl, if you all have an outlet in your town that's where I would start looking for a crockpot. This time of the year our little crock is in constant rotation. :0)
