Bridal Day was the highlight of our Birmingham Fashion Week experience. We love to watch wedding shows and were completely enamored with all the fab wedding looks. We saw designs by Heidi Elnora, Bella Couture, Ivory and White, and Bella Bridesmaids.
Happy Valentine’s Day! If you get proposed to today/are planning a wedding, we have the perfect places for you to look for the perfect dress. These dresses were beyond gorgeous and a belle was smiling from ear to ear! We loved what we saw from the boutiques and fell in love with the chic bridesmaids dresses from Bella Bridesmaids.
What in particular did we love about Bella Bridesmaids? Their dresses were very sharp and could be worn outside of a wedding, which a belle loved! There are some hot wedding looks out there for the gents too that we will share later this week.
Check out the interview below for some great tips/trends for you soon to be brides!!
What are current bridal trends? 3/4 length sleeves, full sleeves, tired dresses and lace, and sweet romantic looks. Brides are still buying two dresses for their reception, or a bridal dress that comes with a short satin skirt.
What should a bride know before coming in? Price range and pictures are important. 10% of your budget should be allocated to the wedding dress. Brides should order their dresses 7-8 months before the wedding, and bridesmaids should order 4 months before the wedding. This is to ensure alterations are made and the dress is available.
How has the economy affected your business? Both Bella Bridesmaids and Bella Couture have shifted their focus a bit with the economy. Bella Couture has dresses ranging from $1,000-$6,000.
Do you sell more than bridal gowns? Ladies, Ivory and White specializes in bridal gowns only. To say their gowns are beautiful is an understatement. We really loved their collection. Bella Bridesmaids is all about dressing the bridesmaids, and they do an EXCELLENT job with this. Bella Couture can dress your entire wedding party with mother of the bride dresses, accessories and more.
Tamika and I saw/met a ton of great local vendors such as Dorothoy McDaniel’s Flower Market, Angela Karen Photography (a wonderful friend of ours), Olexa’s, Kathy G & Company and so many others that are sure to make your big day special. Check them out when you can!
Top 5 looks per boutique/designer!
Y’all this former Project Runway contestant (check out our pic with her here!) and B’ham native took the cake. Her collection, “Keep Calm and Carry On” was beyond fab! The dresses are very feminine and beautiful.
This collection opened with the some of the models walking out with wet hair and striking emotion-stricken poses. We loved every moment! Variations of lace/flowers were prominent in this collection. Take a look at the front/back of these babies.
Clothes Tree by Deborah:
I actually visited this store a while back while our dog was having a photo shoot(dog’s can have fun too) done next door. This store is located in Vestavia right off Acton Road and the staff is very friendly! Most importantly, the fashion is stellar.
These are not your I-hate-it-and-want-it-off-NOW type of bridesmaids dresses. We were blown away! These threads can easily be worn to a formal event or any special occasion. Bella Bridesmaids is located in B’ham and all over the country.
Ivory and White: This Crestline Village (Mountain Brook) boutique has dresses made out of fabrics including silk taffeta, tulle and organza lace. Take a look at these beautiful romantic dresses.
We loved the short and long dresses from this boutique. They are located off of Highway 280 in a small town called Mt. Laurel. There were so many great looks and it was hard for us to pick just five!
We told you on our first BFW post there was a lot to see. Well, I hope you enjoyed everything! Take a look below at some more of our photos. Also, don’t forget to check back Thursday for MORE BFW goodness!
There were prizes given away to the brides and so much to see and taste. Tell us what you think of the dresses!!
