Perfect Art Weekend Weather

This weekend was one of the best ones we’ve had this season in Birmingham. Do you want to know what the best part was? We didn’t have anything to do so we decided to roam the city instead of our usual shopping.  On Saturday, we headed to the Magic City Art Connection and volunteered at a booth for our sweet Alys Stephens Center friends.

When our shift was over,we enjoyed the event and saw beautiful unique art, fab handmade jewelry, and much more. Yesterday we cooked our food up for a few days, went hiking, and relaxed watching old Soul Food episodes (we LOVE this show). Check out a few  pics below! Also, did you have a great weekend?

Junior League of Birmingham’s Bargain Bash 2012

Y’all know a belle loves to shop, right? Sure you do! The sis and I love to find great items for rock bottom prices. We attended the Junior League of Birmingham’s Bargain Bash, a preview party for their annual 1,000 family garage sale, Bargain Carousel. Tamika and I racked up and saw so many wonderful items.

They have everything from electronics to household items and much MORE. This post is mostly pics so that you can ooohh and ahhh over some of the great items they have for sell.

Check out some of the cute items we found at Bargain Bash! These napkins are too awesome for $3!

Fiesta Birmingham Logo Unveiling

Our hump day started and ended well for the sis and I yesterday.  Shermika spent the first part of the day judging applicants for Birmingham Magazine’s Beautiful People issue to be released in June. The second half of the day was spent sipping on very divine margaritas from Cantina in Lakeview. Fiesta Birmingham, an annual Fall celebration of Hispanic culture, is turning 10 this year and we are glad that we were there to help celebrate the unveiling of its cute new logo.

Frugal Fashionista Finds: Simply Fashion in the Spring Pt. 1 of 2

Shermika: Dress (c/o Simply Fashion), Bolero (JCPenney), Bag (Coach), Sandals (Off Broadway Shoes), Bracelet (Brighton). Tamika: Shirt, shorts & accessories (c/o Simply Fashion), Shoes (Belk), Bolero (Maurices).
As we told y’all a few posts ago there are a lot of hot trends this season. Other than cute spring colors and fab purses, florals have been on every fashionista’s radar–especially ours!! The one thing that we always tell people is that you don’t have to spend a lot of money to 1. look trendy and 2. look cute while dressing trendy! When Simply Fashion approached a belle about doing a little spring challenge, Tamika and I jumped on it. For those of you that never heard of Simple Fashion, it’s a national clothing store that sells juniors, misses, plus, and super plus size affordable and cute threads. We were each sent $50 gift certificates with one request: spend it well! Y’all know that wasn’t a problem for a frugal loving belle that can make $50 stretch a long way. The challenge was on!!! Book Love: Time Served: My Days and Nights on Death Row Records

Did you have a great weekend? We did! We’ve had a couple of weekends to actually relax and sit around our home. About a week ago I finished reading a book that I have to tell you about. Well, y’all already know by now that a belle is a rap/hip-hop head. When iconic Death Row Records was on top, we were rocking our heads to the beats. The king of Death Row, Tupac, gets daily rotation on our iPods! Who doesn’t love Tupac (Tamika is his biggest fan)? Our mom is in her 50’s and she loves his music–we know she’s too cool for school! 🙂

Time Served: My Days and Nights on Death Row by Simone Green with Tara Coyt offers an interesting look into her life as the Chief Photographer of Death Row Records. This wonderful book also include photos of countless celebs and others. What I love most is that Green does not use her novel to spread salacious material that is prevalent in books that give readers a behind the scenes look. Instead, as a career woman, she focuses on just that–her career and her love for photography. Read More
